Instruction
VFMADDSUBPS
Multiplies packed singles and subtracts the third operand in even and adds it in odd elements, rounding once; FMA4.
An AMD extension: Intel processors do not have this instruction.

Data flow
Where the elements of the sources go, element 0 on the right; results that depend on a control value are drawn for an example. How to read.
Every single works alike: 4 and 8 singles in the xmm and ymm forms. The sources are drawn above the result, each element in its own column.
Result single i comes from single i of xmm2, xmm3 and xmm4. Result singles 3 to 0: r3, r2, r1, r0.
Operation
What the forms do, in pseudocode that our tests run against results recorded on real processors. How to read.
features = cpuid_leaf(0x80000001, 0)[2]
if not features >> 16 & 1:
fault(UD) # CPUID: no FMA4
for i in range(VL // 32):
a = ymm2.f32[i]
b = src3.f32[i]
c = src4.f32[i]
if i % 2 == 0:
ymm1.f32[i] = fmsub(a, b, c)
else:
ymm1.f32[i] = fmadd(a, b, c)
# ymm1 is zeroed from bit VL upRun on AMD Zen 5 (EPYC 9645): 6 cases. Its cases ran where CPUID reported no FMA4, and every one raised an exception. The tests check its arithmetic against MPFR.

Intrinsics
The C intrinsics of Clang 23.1.2 that compile to VFMADDSUBPS, each with the form it compiles to and the Clang options it needs. The forms come from compiling every intrinsic and decoding the result with Intel XED; all intrinsics A–Z explains the method.

CPUID and processors
Each form belongs to an XED ISA set. A form can be used when the processor reports every CPUID bit of one of its ISA set's alternatives.
| ISA set | CPUID | Processors |
|---|---|---|
